Hello I have a 10 meter radio. I have noticed that there is not all that much activity on it. I am trying to test my radio but cant seem to find anyone on line to test with. I live in Maine and was wondering if anyone out there knows of any freqs. between 28.3 and 28.5 that are commonly used.
thanks

I monitor HF with my Degan SSB Shortwave and a looooonnnnng wire antenna.

Most of the traffic I find here in Charlotte, NC is on 11 meters centered on the band (19), a couple of old guys on 11 or 23, some loud mouth AMP APES on 17, 18, 19, and 20, and a few freebanders on USB between 27.415 and 27.555.

In several months of listening to SW, I think I have picked up some skip between 28.300 and 28.500 about 5 or 6 times in days of listening. I've rarely heard anything from 28.500 and up.

The 11 meter band is a madhouse compared to 10 meter, and all the traffic is on 4 or 5 channels.

I am testing for my Technician on the 9th, and I am almost ready for the General.

The main reason is so I can put it on my Resume. I don't plan on buying a radio.

I am not knocking 10 meter or HAM radio operators. I am just stating the reality I hear on my shortwave radio.
