I am looking for the "e-chip" frequency plugin board. Does anyone know where to find one of these.

If you bought the radio new, contact the company you bought it from. The chip is provided with each radio from Ranger. The retailer should pass it on to you free of charge, since it didn't cost them anything. If you have to purchase one, they are about $15. There are some mail order people who want you to pay a high price for conversion and they hold the chip back. If this is the case, contact Ranger. The information is on the Ranger web site.

Anyway, the chip is provided at no cost to the retailer.

A friend of mine bought this off of Ebay for $200 in the box. But no conversion board to be found. Every company that I have talked to about it has said they will check for me or said they could not get them. I have sent you a pm “Star Electronics”. Thanks for the help. ED

If you bought the radio from a Ham Operator, there were a few sold by AES and HRO that had a different cpu board that will not convert.

I do see an empty three pin brown socket on the processor board. Hopefully this is the modifiable board. ED

Rumor was that the "non-convertible" radios had a green paper dot stuck to the CPU chip.
Only way to tell is to plug in the dongle and see what happens.
